Chance Encounter

Saturday night I learned (through Facebook) that a colleague and friend from my early days at the National Immigration Forum arrived in Paris with her family. We got together with Marketa and husband Thomas for lunch at Brasserie Barbès on Boulevard Barbès in the 18th. For all the times Marketa and I have failed to connect when Marketa comes to Washington on business, it was fun to finally meet in Paris. (Given how much time Pat and I spend in Paris, however, perhaps it was not so unusual.) (Thanks to Marketa for the group photo.)

We enjoyed our meal at the Brasserie. For me: Garganelli pasta with foie gras, with a rosemary-infused cream sauce. Yum.

  1. Wow, you sure are in Paris. I just had a tunafish sandwich on rye. Not bad with avocado and tomato but I’d prefer your selection. xo
