So here we are, enjoying the view from our Paris home-away-from-home, our friend Edith’s apartment in the 18th.

It had been an odd week. The president’s team was in it’s third day of chaos after the Trump/Putin summit in Helsinki. Just before boarding, we saw the news that the Director of National Intelligence learned, while attending a conference that was being televised live, that Trump had invited Putin for another summit in the fall. Glad to be leaving all that incompetence behind. Frankly, it’s embarrassing. We’re very glad we are not representing the U.S. We are so sorry for our diplomatic corps.

As usual, we got little sleep on the flight over, and the first day is always just a day to get through. We should have something more interesting tomorrow.
